Comments/Questions?

Footnote # 1 - There is no fee for aquatic education-related use of facilities; however, in addition to the requirement that group leaders attend the 3-hour facilities orientation workshop, a copy of the group's planned agenda of activities for use of the facilities must be submitted in advance to confirm the fee waiver;  also upon leaving, groups are required to complete and return the facilities use evaluation form provided.

There is a $50/day (plus $50 additional if staying overnight) fee for non-aquatic education use of ARE facilities;  this is because funding for facilities operation is provided the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Program for Aquatic Resources Education;  please direct any questions regarding fees or fee waivers to Bob Jones (302-653-3441) or Gary Kreamer (302-653-2882).

Footnote #2  - During the busy field trip season (March-May and September-November), use of the Mallard Lodge facilities will be available only for groups doing aquatic-education related programs. Due to high demand, each user group will be limited to one weekend reservation per year.

Please note:  on all weekdays (except Mondays) during those busy months, the boardwalk and pavilion areas are off-limits to visiting groups between 9 AM and 1:30 PM, due to use by ARE staff for facilitated fifth grade Eco-Explorers (salt marsh ecology) field programs.

Use of the ARE Center is available weekdays only (no weekend use is allowed).

Footnote #3 - Upon receipt of your facilities use request, ARE staff will do their best to respond in a timely manner as to the availability of our facilities for the date(s) requested.  If possible, this response will be done via the e-mail address you provide on this submissionResponse to your request may vary depending on holidays, workload, etc.

If the dates you requested are unavailable, we will try to indicate dates in the vicinity of the ones you requested that are available.   However, since those dates may also be requested by other groups in the interim, you will need to respond promptly to ensure the best opportunity of securing them.

Once a reservation is confirmed, depending on the use category, you will also need to:

for those doing aquatic ed.-related programs, mail or fax (302-653-3431) your group activity agenda;  if this is not received the fee waiver will be negated.

OR

for those using the facilities for non aquatic ed. activities, return a check payable to the "Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife" for the fee amount indicated.
