DNREC's Environmental Enforcement Activities
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
(DNREC) is pleased to provide information to the public about enforcement
actions it takes in response to environmental violations. This information
includes administrative, civil and criminal enforcement actions. An "Enforcement
Actions History Explanation of Terms", which identifies and describes
the types of enforcement actions the Department is authorized to take,
accompanies the list. This will serve as a guide to better understanding
the information included in the list.
The Department believes that enforcement is an important tool in
carrying out its mission of protecting Delaware's environment and enhancing the
quality of life in the State. Environmental laws and regulations
are established to protect and foster a healthy and sustainable
environment. DNREC is committed to ensuring compliance with those
laws and regulations and initiating enforcement action when warranted.
