Brownfields Success Stories

Castle Ford

The Castle Ford property is situated on Route 9 in New Castle. The site was a former car dealership and as such was impacted with varying contaminants. The former owners wanted to sell the property and chose the Brownfield Program to facilitate this endeavor. The property was remediated and a Certificate of Completion (COC) was issued by DNREC on March 15, 1996

The new owner is John Wik of Wik Associates. Mr Wik has refurbished the existing building and invested $150,000 dollars into capital improvements. The property is leased by Wik Associates, which will be able to house an additional 50 employees at the new facility. 2.8 acres in the rear of the property has been subdivided for future development.
