Visit DNREC at Coast Day 2000 in Lewes

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will have more than 20 exhibits at Coast Day, Oct. 1, sponsored by the University of Delaware Sea Grant College of Marine Studies. The seaside gala is held at the Hugh R. Sharp Campus on Pilottown Road, Lewes.

The displays from DNREC’s Divisions of Air and Waste Management, Fish and Wildlife, Soil and Water, Water Resources, and Parks and Recreation will illustrate the relationship between Delaware’s coastal zone and departmental environmental programs.

The DNREC exhibits will be enclosed in a giant 60 by 100-foot tent and will highlight the Delaware Estuary Program, Natural Heritage Conservation, Delaware’s Greenways and an exhibit of marine mammals. Visitors can learn about the St. Jones Center and Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve System, shoreline management and the inland bays.

In addition to the many environmental program and educational exhibits, the popular water drop will be featured in face painting.
