Sept. 6, 2000 For more information, contact Greg Moore or Lloyd Alexander, 302-739-5297; or Melinda Carl, 302-739-4506 Early Teal Season Set for Sept. 7-16The Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife will have four wildlife areas open for the experimental teal season which begins tomorrow, Sept. 7 and extends to Sept. 16. Wildlife areas that will be open include: the Augustine area (Lang and Silver Run tracts), Woodland Beach, Little Creek and the Ted Harvey management areas (Logan Lane and Roberts tracts). All areas will be open every day of the teal season except for the Ted Harvey impoundment blinds and the Woodland Beach West tract. Impoundment blinds at Ted Harvey will be open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. River blinds and the Roberts tract blinds will be open every day. The Woodland Beach West tract will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Hunting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise until 10 a.m. All hunting is by permit only via a daily lottery from the checking station servicing the management area. Teal hunting without a permit is also available at the Little Creek wildlife area, Davy Crockett tract; the Milford Neck wildlife area; and Gray, Hollager, Penuel, Rawleys Island/Big Stone Beach and Cedar Creek tracts on a first-come, first-served basis. All blinds will be safe to use but may not be newly grassed prior to the teal season. Teal hunting will not be open at the other state wildlife areas within the experimental teal-hunting zone. Hunters may hunt teal on private land, provided the landowner obtains a free permit for the property. Individual hunters on private lands do not need to have a permit. The zone for teal hunting runs from south of the C&D Canal to Lewes, east of Routes 13, 113/113A and Route 1. The daily bag limit is 4, composed of either blue-winged or green-winged teal. No other ducks can be taken during this season.
