Soil and Water Conference 2000 Set for Oct. 24-26

The Sediment and Stormwater Management Program of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation announces plans for the Conference 2000 to be held Oct. 24-26 at the University of Delaware, Clayton Hall Conference Facility in Newark.

The conference will focus on topics related to the following erosion, sediment and stormwater management issues:

· Regulatory Programs - NPDES, TMDLs, and nonpoint source programs;
· Program Implementation - Innovative strategies to meet regulatory challenges;
· Best Management Practices - Design, research, monitoring and modeling;
· Resource Protection Efforts - Riparian and wetland protection and enhancement;
· Watershed Programs - Management issues, funding options, tributary strategies;
· Low Impact Development - Nonstructural approaches for stormwater management;
· Specific Case Studies - Ideas from the private and non-profit sectors; and
· Specific Case Studies - Ideas from the local, state and federal agencies.

More than 40 speakers will share the latest policy, programs, technology and science in the field of urban erosion, sediment and stormwater management. An exhibit area will also be provided for services and products, and an outdoor barbecue will be held following the conference’s opening day, on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Early registration fee is $195; after September 15, the fee is $235. The fee includes conference materials, continental breakfast and lunch each day, refreshments at break and the Tuesday evening barbecue. Registration will be limited to the first 375 registrants. The deadline for registration is Oct. 9 or until full.
