Cape Henlopen State Park Adds 41 Acres of Woodlands

As part of its efforts to preserve remaining open space between Lewes and Rehoboth, the Division of Parks and Recreation has purchased 41 acres of woodlands on the south side of Glade Road in Rehoboth as an addition to Cape Henlopen State Park. The $1,035,000 purchase price was funded by the state’s Open Space Program.

The transaction is the second part of a two-part acquisition from the Dodd family heirs. In July 1999, 81 acres of farmland and woods were purchased for $2,032,075.

Cape Henlopen State Park is now over 5,000 acres, with more than 1,900 acres on the west side of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal.
