July 27, 2000 Division of Parks and Recreation Announces New Reservation System for Disabled Campers Needing Accessible CampsitesBeginning Aug. 1, 2000, Delawares five state park campgrounds will accept reservations for accessible campsites. Currently, all campground camping is on a first-come first-served basis. Although cabins and yurts at Trap Pond State Park, Killens Pond State Park and Lums Pond State Park are reservable, this marks the first time that campsites may be reserved. The handicap accessible campsite reservation system launches the first stage of a larger reservation system currently in the final stages of development. The Division of Parks and Recreation plans to launch a state-wide camping reservation system for all five camping parks in 2001. This will include a toll-free phone number so that campers may guarantee a site before they arrive in Delaware. The new Campsite Reservation System for disabled campers was established by the General Assembly in June. Highlights of the new reservation system:
