Vol. 31, No. 61 For more information, contact Katy Dulin at 302-739-3436. Breakfast with the Birds at St. Jones ReserveThe Friends of the St. Jones Reserve will host a "Breakfast with the Birds" on Monday, March 5 from 7-8:30 a.m. This is the first in a series of birding walks that are planned for the first Monday of each month. Early-rising birdwatchers will meet at the Reserve's St. Jones Center for Estuarine Studies on Kitts Hummock Road off Route 113 south of Dover. Members of the newly formed Friends group and a Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control naturalist will lead a walk along the Reserve's quarter-mile boardwalk across the saltmarsh and on a mile-long trail to Kingston-upon-Hull, a house once owned by John Dickinson, the Penman of the Revolution. Field guides and binoculars will be provided for the search for waterbirds, songbirds and birds of prey that are on the Reserve's checklist of species historically found in the area. Coffee and "bird talk" will follow. Birders can just show up or call 302-739-3436 for more information. -30- |
