Division of Parks and Recreation Honors Outstanding EmployeesAt the Division of Parks and Recreation's annual awards program in December, Gregory Abbott, chief of administration, and Paul Street, Delaware Seashore State Park custodial foreman, were named Employees of the Year. Abbott, who has been with the Division for five years, was selected to receive the full-time employee award for his valuable contributions to personnel issues, including hiring and processing new employees and critical reclassifications, and to budget issues, including managing a dozen trust funds which provide a steady form of funding for the Division. The seasonal employee award to Street was in recognition of his innovative approach to job assignments resulting in time and money savings for the Division, as well as for his skill at mechanical repairs and equipment operation that make him an "irreplaceable member of the maintenance team at Delaware Seashore State Park." Director Charles A. Salkin awarded the Director's Cup to the Office of Design and Development team of Britt Murray, Wayne Rust, Phillip Gallo, John Knies, Karen Myer, Robert Shaw, William Brozy, Joe Kline, Harry Baughman and Louise Hudson. They were cited for exceptional teamwork while carrying out an aggressive and high profile capital development program. Outstanding Employee Awards for full-time staff went to: Gary Laudeman, Rick Gundelsweiler, Susan Staats, Tom Moore and Charlie Kaszytski, Wilmington State Park; Lee Jennings, Phil Gallo, Joe Kline, Jack Goins and David Rickman, Central Office; Mike Felker, Clarence Adams and David Moore, Lums Pond; and Eugene Gerardi, Killens Pond. Outstanding Employee Awards for seasonal staff went to: Jay Whittle, Cheryl Jackson, Lee Stratton and Eric Gaberlein, Brandywine Creek State Park; Ralph Williams and Donna Iacono, Bellevue; Joan Waudby, Harry Semans and Debbie Powell, Killens Pond, Matthew Chamberlain, Delaware Seashore; Sheila Carnell, White Clay Creek; William Knight, Fort Delaware; Roy Street, Trap Pond; and George Contant, Central Office. Brandywine Creek State Park volunteer William "Gabe" Gaberlein was named Volunteer of the Year.
