Public Hearing on Proposed FOIA Regulation to be Held Oct. 26 in Dover

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will hold a public hearing on its proposed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Regulation Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Department's auditorium at the Richardson and Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.

The proposed FOIA regulation, a modification of its current FOIA policy, prescribes procedures relating to the inspection and copying of public records retained by DNREC pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (29 Del.C., Chapter 100). The Department's goals for the regulation are to maximize the amount of information available to the public, establish a reasonable fee structure for copying public records and streamline procedures used to disseminate the information.

The proposed amendment may be inspected at DNREC's offices located at 156 S. State St., Dover; 715 Grantham Lane, New Castle; and duPont Highway, Georgetown. For additional information or an appointment to review the proposed FOIA Regulation, please contact Susan S. Baker, paralegal, 302-739-4791. Written suggestions/comments will be accepted through the close of business Nov. 2, 2000.

Statements and testimony may be presented either orally or in written form at the hearing. Individuals interested in presenting statements at the public hearing are requested to register in advance by mail. Written statements and/or comments may be addressed to: Susan S. Baker, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Air and Waste Management, 156 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
