Cougar Tracks, Saturday, January 27, 10 a.m. Would you recognize a cougar track if you saw one? Join the White Clay Creek State Park naturalist at the Chambers House Nature Center for a hike through White Clay Creek Preserve to search for wildlife tracks and signs. Flights of Fancy: Paper Airplane Creations, Saturday, January 27, 2 p.m. In honor of Charles Lindbergh's birthday, come to White Clay Creek State Parks Chambers House Nature Center to make paper airplanes and see how far they fly! $1 per person. Hiking into Archaeology, Sundays, February 4 - March 4, 1 p.m. There's no better time than winter to explore the visible contours of the land. The starkness of the season reveals ruins, patterns, textures, and other clues to historic sites that were hidden under the vegetation of summer. Learn how archaeologists "read" these clues and combine them with historical records to develop a story of the past at White Clay Creek State Park. February 4: Hiking the Pomeroy Railroad, Part I Take a short excursion via park van into Newark to follow the path of the "Pumpsie Doodle" as it wound its way through town and into the park. Then, take a two-mile hike along the historic railroad bed from one end of the park to the other. Meet at the Chambers House Nature Center. Valentines Dinner Party for High School Students, Judge Morris House, Friday, February 9 & Saturday, February 10, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. White Clay Creek State Park presents a romantic Valentines evening for high school students at the Judge Morris Estate. A pasta buffet will be followed by entertainment by the popular local band, Mothers Magillicutti. $20 per person. Reservations are available for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Call 302-368-6900. Creek Geography, Saturday, February 17, 10 a.m. Explore the shape of the land, the resource base, and special populations of the creek on this discovery-based stroll through White Clay Creek Preserve.
