Public Hearing on Tidal Finfish Regulations Set for
Jan. 25
Summer Flounder, Striped Bass, Weakfish, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel
Amendments
The Division of Fish and Wildlife of the Department of Natural Resources
and Environmental Control will hold a public hearing Thursday, Jan.
25, 2001 on proposed amendments to Delaware's tidal finfish regulations.
The hearing will be held 7:30 p.m. in the DNREC auditorium of the Richardson
and Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
Proposed amendments to the regulations include the following:
- Summer Flounder - adjust the dates for the closed recreational
fishing season and/or the minimum size limit and creel limit to
meet the requirements of the summer flounder fishery management
plan for 2001.
- Striped Bass - drop the 32-inch maximum size limit for commercial
fishermen.
- Weakfish - adjust the calendar dates for 2001 for 35 days when
all gear other than hook and line is unlawful to harvest weakfish
in the Delaware Bay and Ocean in May and June.
- Bluefish - increase the daily creel limit from 10 to 15.
- Spanish Mackerel - increase the daily creel limit from 10 to 15.
