Unless
noted, programs are held at the St. Jones Reserve,
located on Kitts Hummock Road, east of the Dickinson Plantation.
Programs are free unless otherwise indicated, but pre-registration
is required due to limited space. With advance notice,
any of the programs listed can be scheduled to accomodate
individual groups larger than 15. For information and registration,
call (302)739-3436 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
We reserve the right to cancel and/or reschedule programs at our discretion.

Join a naturalist at the St. Jones Reserve Center from 10:00 to
11:00 a.m. for a story and a hands-on activity about kid friendly
environmental science. Programs are open to children 2 to 5. Parents
are encouraged to tag along but we ask that older siblings sign
up for one of our other programs.

Estuaries Day / Coast Day
Thursday, October 3, 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, October 4, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 6, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve will celebrate
National Estuaries Day (October 4th) and Coast Day with three programs.
Join staff at the St. Jones Reserve on Thursday and Friday for a
live broadcast of Estuary Live! This live interactive webcast will
be shown on the Reserve's big screen. Stop in whenever you can and
get a chance to see other National Estuarine Research Reserves from
around the country. On Sunday join Reserve staff at the University
of Delaware's College of Marine Studies Coast Day in Lewes. Look
for the tent celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Coastal Zone
Management Act.

Winter Trimmings
Wednesday, December 11, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Learn how to decorate your home with things from nature. Make a
small candle molded in the sand and simple tree decorations using
pine cones, sweet gum balls, and much more. All materials will be
provided.

The Friends of the St. Jones Reserve will again host a lecture
series with a variety of exciting guest presenters. Join the Friends
at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Jones Reserve Center for a brief business
meeting and presentation from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. All are welcome
and encouraged to attend.

St. Jones River Boat Trips
Sunday, October 13, 1:00 p.m.to 2:00 p.m
Program meets at Scotton Landing
Join a naturalist for a guided tour of the St. Jones River aboard
our 24 foot Carolina Skiff. Learn about the natural and cultural
history of the watershed. Boat trips are open to those age 4 and
older. Life jackets will be provided and are mandatory. No open
toed shoes; please dress appropriately.

Wildlife Detectives
Saturday, November 9, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The wildlife at the St. Jones Reserve is busy getting ready for
the cold winter. Join a
naturalist at the St. Jones Reserve Center to learn about animal
tracks, scat, and signs
that they leave to let us know that they are still around. Then,
take a hike through the
woods to test your sleuthing skills. The program is open to all
ages. No strollers please.

At anytime during operating hours, follow the trail over the
salt marsh and through
the surrounding wooded uplands to historic Kingston-Upon-Hull.
Be sure to stop in the Reserve Center and check out our interactive
exhibits.
